Dr. Treat patients requiring surgery and dental cleaning will be put under anesthesia to complete the necessary procedure. We understand that the thought of putting your companion under anesthesia can be daunting, but our veterinary team is very experienced in the art of anesthesia and will work closely with you and your pet to ensure the best possible outcome. For every pet undergoing anesthesia, we perform a thorough preanesthetic examination, including auscultation of the heart. Bloodwork and heart screening (ECG) are performed to determine whether your pet is safe for anesthesia and we will always let you know if we find anything of concern.
We formulate a personalized anesthesia plan for your pet based on the age and breed of your pet, the presence of pre-existing conditions and the presence of recent changes noted on preanesthetic tests. Every patient is monitored closely throughout the entire procedure and recovery period, and we will always send you home with clear instructions on how to care for your furry companion following the anesthetic procedure.
Our team will check in with you the day following the procedure to make sure that your pet is recovering as planned, and they will schedule follow up appointments as necessary. These appointments may be done either in person or via our “Always-On Telehealth” platform, depending on the procedure.
